CAT/KITTEN ADOPTION POLICY
*The first step of the CCAS adoption procedure is for the prospective adopter to complete the adoption application
(NO ADOPTIONS ARE PROCESSED WITHOUT AN APPROVED APPLICATION).
*The application must be completed and reviewed by the CCAS committee before any appointments are made for
the prospective adopter to meet any of the cats/kittens up for adoption outside of a public adoption event
(ex: at a foster house).
*The adoption fee is $50 for each adult cats or kittens or $75 for 2 adult cats or kittens adopted from CCAS This fee
covers the animal’s standard veterinary care (deworming, flea treatment, FeLV/FIV test, spay/neuter, and any additional
treatments the animal was in need of).
*Cats are available for adoption as soon as they have received the necessary vet care and have been spayed/neutered
*Kittens are available for adoption once they have reached 3 lbs, have received the necessary vet care, and have been
spayed/neutered.
*Besides viewing our adoptable cats/kittens at an adoption event, appointments can be scheduled to visit the foster
home if you are interested in seeing the cats/kittens in person (only with a completed and approved application).
*Appointments to see kittens are only made once they have been weaned.
*A $25.00 cash deposit is required to reserve a cat/kitten that is not quite ready for adoption yet, and the rest is due
at the time the adoption is finalized and the cat/kitten is picked up (WE DO NOT DO SAME DAY ADOPTIONS).
*A safe and reliable animal carrier is required at time of pickup.
*At the time of the final adoption meeting all veterinary records for the adopted animal will be handed over to the new
owner along with a summary of the care provided by the CCAS foster parent.
*There is a 30 day acclimation period for the new cat/kitten to fit into its new home and be checked out by the adopter’s
vet; and during this time the CCAS will take the animal back and refund the adoption fee if a successful match is not made or
a veterinarian deems the animal unhealthy.
*This is only limited to cats/kittens that are returned back to us in the condition that they were adopted out in.
*CCAS will always take back cats/kittens previously adopted from us without a relinquishment fee, but the adoption fee
will not be refunded past the 30 day acclimation period.
*CCAS reserves the right to deny adopting a cat/kitten to any person, for any reason we see fit, before an adoption agreement
has been signed.
*CCAS encourages adopters to call and email the foster coordinator with any questions or concerns throughout and after the
adoption.
*Although every effort is honestly made to ensure that the cats/kittens adopted out through CCAS are healthy, free of disease,
and have received the proper veterinary care, no guarantees or refunds will be made past the 30 day acclimation period
**Kibble foods are not to be fed at any time. Doing so will negate any health gaurantees!!!
General expectations:
*Indoor homes only.
*If you rent, landlord will be contacted.
*Initial home inspection required.
*No declawing.
*Must be at least 18 years of age to adopt.
*References will be checked.
*Veterinary information will be asked for. If you dont have a current vet, one will be reccomended.
*Priority is given to those who wish to adopt 2 kittens or an adult cat.
*Cats will not be adopted with the intention of being a "gift" for another person. If you would like to help someone adopt a new
pet, they must be evaluated first. It's only fair for both the perspective gift reciever, as well as the kitty.
Continued support is offered. Advise on appropriate feline diet, vaccinations, training and natural care (herbal flea remedies, etc)
is given. A kitten packet with handbook is provided with every cat adoption.
If for any reason kitties need to be rehomed, it is required they be returned to CCAS
