We were outbid on the other propety so the housing hunt continues. =( After looking and looking, we found some nice, AFFORDABLE newly built homes in Bend OR. I may have also found a very well respected Parelli horse trainer to work with! Yahooo! =) Were going up on the 14th to meet with the agents and check out these new houses. Well, Bend is what is referred to as a high desert. I once did a biological research project in the Mojave of Southern CA( also a high desert area) and aside from not seeing any desert torts, the other disheartening part about the trip was the weather! One morning it was snowing and by noon it was 95 degrees! Yeah, that was unbelievable weather. From what I understand Bend, OR isnt quite that dramatic, luckily. It tops out at around 85 in summer (summer nights being in the 40-50's), and drops to the low 40's in winter (nights as low as 20). For the first time in my life, Ill be in snow for more then a day. haha Ive only seen snow 3 times in my whole life at this point. Anyhow, Bend, OR here we come. =)
I just found out that weve used 80% of our bandwidth for the period and its only been 5 days! Luckily a period is only 2 weeks, but at this rate our website will be unavailable for a week! Guess its time to upgrade service. Over all this webpage building thing hasnt been nearly as hard as what I thought it would be. Weve been opperating for 5 years without a page at all, so this is pretty exciting stuff! Lots of work, but a fun experience in all. I hope it results in finding awsome homes for our foster kitties. Theres so many more out there in need, and the longer were at full capacity, the less we can be of service to other kitties who are in desprate need of forever homes. =(
We will be headed to Oregon country soon regardless if we get this property or another, but I do hope our bid is accepted for this one! 15 cats, 2 horses, 1 dog some fish and reptiles will be making the journey north. Lucky for the pup, he will never have to face a scorching Sacramento Valley summer. A FLAT 6 acre property with a HUGE old milk barn, a shop and a 4 bed room house. PERFECT. =) We can designate 2 of the bedrooms ascat rooms, with outside enclosures accessible through kitty doors. Depending on the conditions of the milk barn, it may prove to be a good structure to build the dog kennel in, as well as a good place to breed poultry and rodents. =) The property is 45 minutes from Eugene, so if all goes as planned I can go to veterinary school there. *knocking on wood* I am fairly close to getting my B.S. so Ill be applying to Vetschool soon. By May we should have our paperwork processed and fees paid for our non-profit status, which will be helpful so we can start receiving donations, which means we'll have more means to take on more fosters! =) There's always more animals in need, sadly. In a perfect world, the concept of personal responsibility would be taken more seriously I suppose. Responsibility for that which is yours. =( To quote Marry Shelly's Frankenstien: "Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us."
